Production Résumé/CV

Recruiter

Fall 2017 - Present

Delta-T provides staffing for assisted living residences and day programs throughout Southwest PA. There is a constant need for people who can assist with activities of daily living and care about promoting a high quality of life for adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. I pre-screen and interview applicants, primarily recruiting through online posts, along with in-person recruitment at colleges, libraries, and community centers.

Administrative Assistant & Environmental Justice Project Coordinator

August 2016 - July 2017

Coordinating staff schedules, and setting staff meeting agendas on the administrative end. Then speaking on panels about social justice and journalism, and co-facilitating workshops on environmental justice concerns in communities of color. Also a coordinator of a national twitter chat for Women Of Color HERStory Month under the hashtag "Reconstructing Justice." I was part of the Our Water Campaign, a coalition of environmental organizers focused on safe and affordable water needs in Pittsburgh. My work also entailed a great deal of event planning, from small workshops for 10 to 15 organizers, to dinners with entertainment and catering for 250 guests.

Producer and Director

Ongoing Project

Through community interviews and research, the Neglected Histories series reveals the human dimensions of property neglect and bears witness to neighborhood change. Each 20 to 30 minute documentary is focused on one neglected or abandoned property. I talk with community members about the neglected place, showing audiences what’s remembered about the property when it was cared for, as well as how and why it fell into neglect. I also look at how that neglect affects the rest of the community, and what's being planned for the property. Public screenings of the episodes will include hosted discussions.

Freelance Producer and Co-Host

Fall 2015

Professor Buzzkill is a blog & podcast that explores and debunks history myths. I co-hosted and consulted with Joe Coohill a.k.a.Professor Buzzkill on episodes about the Cuban Missile Crisis, War of the Worlds hysteria in the 1930s, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

January 2012 - March 2015

I was the digital/social media strategist, board operator, and assistant producer for the 90.5 WESA live call-in talk show “Essential Pittsburgh” I’m skilled at identifying eloquent guests for live broadcast and community forums. I supervised up to 4 interns, managed the show website, social media postings, and tracking analytics. I also maintained the show's administrative duties, managing databases and collaborative software such as Google docs and Google spreadsheets

WBZH Community Radio in Pottstown, PA

May 2011 - January 2012

My work included writing copy and hosting a 15 minute midday news program. I was also host/producer of “Our Environment,” a series of features that highlighted sustainable businesses in the Pottstown, PA area.

Freelance Production Assistant

April 2010 - January 2012

This public TV program is focused on organic gardening, green living and farm-to-table cooking.

I researched & pre-interviewed potential guests — such as the experts and wildlife enthusiasts in this episode on native species gardening in Austin, TX. I managed travel schedules for the show hosts & filming crew. I also assisted the camera crew in the field while shooting in Washington D.C. & at Rodale Institute, the home of organic gardening research in America.

Volunteer Production Assistant

April 2011 - July 2011

YBYG is a nationally syndicated organic gardening call-in radio show.

I organized and researched listener gardening questions received by email and voicemail. I used that research to line up the best range of call-in questioners for air. I also edited this author interview about the gardens of America’s founding fathers. Visit the Spring 2011 part of the YBYG archive page for more episodes I helped produce.

Volunteer General Assignment Reporter & Features Producer

August 2008 - October 2009

WRTI is a jazz & classical music NPR station at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. I quickly moved from general assignment reporting, to hosting and producing a weekly series titled “News and Views.” I addressed a range of topics, such as the environmental impact of local ski resorts, an emerging sustainability concern. And took our audience on an audio tour of a home energy audit, also an emerging industry at the time.

Closed Caption Coordinator & Producing Assistant

February 2007-June 2008

I coordinated VITAC closed caption updates for the “CBS Early Show” and “CBS Evening News with Katie Couric,” and was on-call for the “Weekend Evening News.”

The majority of my work included background research on guests using LexisNexis and ENPS software. I was also required to gather b-roll for teases, promos, and features, using MediaManager and the extensive CBS news video archive system. On occasion, I produced satellite interviews, voice overs, and teases for the “CBS Weekend Evening News.” I answered viewer phone calls for the “Evening News with Katie Couric,” which often required the ability to listen and tactfully respond to their questions and comments when possible. And I produced the doctor’s office interviews in this story about HPV vaccinations for boys and provided background research for the final story.

Administrative Intern

January 2005 - April 2005

I spent my last semester of college in the United Kingdom and interned for the foreign correspondent network, Global Radio News. GRN is a news media management service that connects freelance journalists in remote areas of the world to news outlets such as ABC news, CBS radio and various BBC stations. I kept track of GRN’s freelance journalists by checking in and coordinating travel schedules, asking about breaking news coverage & staying on top of developing stories.
